Egyptian footballer displays love for Arsenal by naming son after Mesut Ozil

It was probably expected that many Egyptian footballers would quickly begin rooting for Arsenal when midfielder Mohamed Elneny was signed by the club, but former Al-Ahly player Ahmed Nabil Manga took love for the Gunners to another level by apparently naming his son after Mesut Ozil.

According to the Egyptian sports outlet KingFut.com [per the Metro], Manga has named his newborn son “Ozil” in homage to the Arsenal superstar.

The source noted that Ozil will not be on the newborn’s official birth certificate, but will be some sort of affectionate nickname instead.

If Manga’s son is anything like his namesake, the Egyptian footballer can expect an assist or two with burping and diaper change.

Manga and Elneny played together for the Al-Ahly youth divisions, but Elneny ultimated signed with El Mokawloon instead. He parlayed his success with the Egyptian club into a contract with FC Basel and was signed by Arsenal during the January transfer window.
