One of the best fixtures in European football is set to take place at the Juventus Stadium on Wednesday evening as Juventus are set to welcome Inter Milan in the first leg of the Coppa Italia Semi Final.
Juventus have been on a strong run of form lately which has seen the home side achieve second place in the league table. They are only two points off of the league leaders. Inter are two places behind in fourth position with a four point deficit.
The Cup of course does not necessarily reflect the league and anything is possible. However, Juventus are heavily favoured to win this one without any major problems, having won their previous six games in a row across all competitions.
Most recently, Juventus managed to knock Lazio out of the Quarter Final of the Coppa Italia, beating them in a narrow 1-0 away victory.
The home side have managed five wins in their last five league matches and have looked a very tough proposition to play against. Four of their last six wins have been clean sheets and the team have looked dangerous in both attack and defence, with the side winning their 11th straight game against Roma last time out.
Juventus are set to be without Sami Khedira and Simone Zaza who are both planned to be rested.
Paul Pogba has regained sufficient fitness to play but it remains to be seen whether he will feature in the starting lineup against Inter. Juve boss Allegri has stated that he may rotate his starting lineup due to the busy run of fixtures his team are in the middle of.
Inter have experienced a mixed run of form as of late. The visiting side have gone undefeated in their last three matches, with two draws and a win but will have been disappointed to be held to a draw against Carpi last week.
The draws came against Carpi and Atalanta while a triumph was a two to nothing Coppa Italia Quarter Final win against league leaders Napoli. Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini has stated that there will be a measure of squad rotation in order to take into account the large amount of matches his side have been involved in lately.
Juventus are the favourites for this one and are likely to add to their lengthy run of straight victories.
The major challenge for Inter Milan will be keeping the score under control so they are in within a chance for the home leg of the fixture. An away goal would also be invaluable for Inter but they are likely to focus more heavily on the defensive side of the game.
