It wasn’t that long ago that Joe Allen was public enemy number one at Anfield and could do no right in the eyes of the fans.
Seemingly on borrowed time, the ‘Welsh Pirlo’ was due to move on, but since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival the former Swansea man is undergoing an incredible revival.
And it was this revival that was characterised in Tuesday night’s heroic showing to propel his side into the Capital One Cup final with a victory against Stoke.
Allen stepped up to tuck away the deciding penalty in a tense shootout and below is first hand proof that he could fast become a firm fan favourite yet.
