David de Stayer: Real Madrid rule out January move for Man United stopper

Manchester United fans can breathe easy this month after Spanish giants Real Madrid rule out making a January move for David de Gea, setting him up for an extended stay at Old Trafford for at least another year, according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old had been close to joining Real over the summer, only to see an 11th hour bid fall through, and now the La Liga big hitters will face a transfer ban for the next two windows starting at the end of the month.

And though many are expecting Real to engage in a flurry of transfer activity over the next few days, president Florentino Perez has ruled out a late swoop for the Spanish international.

“We will not sign players this winter simply because we have the best players,” he said.

Both Real and Atletico Madrid will be banned from buying players for the next two windows due to irregularities in signing young players, but it is believed that both clubs will appeal the ban soon.
