Ex-Man United flop & van Gaal reject tipped to bring Champions League to Euro giants

Former Paris Saint-Germain player and coach Luis Fernandez has backed Manchester United reject Angel Di Maria to deliver the Champions League title to the Parc des Princes.

“He can make you win the Champions League,” said the veteran Fernandez, speaking to RMC Sport [as per Le 10 Sport].

“He  brings something different. He can penetrate, score, help others to score. He’s a technical leader. He can win you a match and can help you win the Champions League.”

Di Maria has shone during his first six months in Paris, breaking his own scoring record—with eight—and already contributing nine assists in 16 Ligue 1 games so far this season.

The former Real Madrid star—who won the Champions League with Los Merengues in 2014—has also demonstrated his versatility in the French capital, shining on the right, the left or through the centre.

His objectives for the remainder of the campaign come in stark contrast to those of his former club Manchester United, who are struggling to win a match at the moment, less alone a continental title!

Indeed, Louis van Gaal—who offloaded Di Maria during the summer—oversaw a miserable Champions League campaign where United were dumped out in the first round, and has been heavily responsible for a recent slump which has left the Old Trafford giants outside the top four.

How they could do with Di Maria’s class, invention and creativity over the coming months!
