Liverpool to move for Serie A wideman as Jurgen Klopp identifies weak link

Following a sub-par showing against Stoke City, Jurgen Klopp has identified Alberto Moreno as Liverpool‘s weak link and his plotting to replace him with Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam.

The Spanish left-back appeared to struggle to deal with the Potters during Liverpool’s Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg victory over Mark Hughes’s side on Tuesday, and was regularly lambasted by manager during the course of the bout.

Indeed, Liverpool fan blog Empire of the Kop recently asked whether the German coach ought to begin starting Brad Smith ahead of the Spaniard.

Joe Gomez will be set to come back into the team next season when his fitness problems clear up, but in the meantime, Klopp doesn’t appear prepared to wait around.

Caught Offside can reveal that the German coach isn’t prepared to tolerate Moreno’s sub-performance, and is willing to splash the cash before the window closes in order to recruit an upgrade.

According to our sources, Klopp is set to turn to Serie A, and to Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam, who has the ability to significantly improve the Reds’ backline.

The Algeria international has shone for Napoli so far this season, helping Maurizio Sarri’s side mount a credible title challenge in Italy.
