West Ham United have emerged as shock rivals to Manchester United’s hopes of signing Southampton forward Sadio Mane, according to local reports in the Brentwood Gazette.
The Hammers are gearing up for their big move to the Olympic Stadium next season and are hoping to bring in some extra quality to their squad, and the report suggests that they are willing to match United’s offer for the 23-year-old.
The Senegalese international hit ten goals in 30 appearances for the Saints last term, and though he hasn’t managed to deliver the same kind of return this time around he is still attracting interest from a number of top flight clubs.
Manager Slaven Bilic is hoping that United’s dip in form will see his side leapfrog them in the table and give Mane a reason to chose a move to east London rather than Manchester.
