Liverpool will be out to cap an impressive week when they take on West Ham United in the fourth road of the FA cup.
Jurgen Klopp’s men secured their place in the League Cup final midweek with a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out win over Stoke.
The win came just days after they had come from 3-1 down to beat Norwich 5-4, in arguably the game of the season so far.
The Official Liverpool Website gives the Reds lineup as follows:
Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Caulker, Smith, Stewart, Allen, Brannagan, Teixeira, Ibe, Benteke.
Substitutes: Ward, Enrique, Ilori, Randall, Chirivella, Ojo, Sinclair.
Klopp could make changes to his side for the clash as he prepares for this 5th game in 13 days. Steve Caulker is set to start for the first time while Dejan Lovren is also set to return.
Daniel Sturridge is not yet ready for first time action while Jordan Ibe, Joe Allen, Brad Smith, Christian Benteke and Joao Teixeira are in contention.
Despite seeing his side beat the Reds twice this season, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is expecting a tough game although he remains confident his side can make it three wins a row. Bilic told the BBC:
“It [beating Liverpool twice] does give us confidence, but it’s still Liverpool away,” he said at the pre-match press conference.
“When I heard it was Liverpool I didn’t think ‘oh yes we beat them twice come on give us Liverpool’.
“On the other hand we are confident because we beat them twice and have the recent memory of beating them. It’s still here [in our minds] what we have to do to have a chance to beat them again.
“It would definitely be a blow [to go out] but then it wouldn’t be a shock for us because they are Liverpool, playing at home.
“Make no mistake we approach the game full of respect. We have beaten them twice, we are confident and hungry to progress in the FA Cup.”
Bilic’s men are two points and one place above Liverpool in the League table and drew 2-2 with Manchester City last time out.
The Hammers will be without Carl Jenkinson (knee), Andy Carroll (hamstring), Diafra Sakho and Manuel Lanzini (both thigh) while new signing Sam Bryam is cup-tied.
Former Liverpool loanee Victor Moses will return to Anfield, this time for West Ham. The former Chelsea player told the West Ham Official website,
“It will be nice for me to go back to Liverpool and it will be my first time back at Anfield since my loan spell there. When we played up there earlier in the season, it was just before I signed for the club but it was a great victory for the Club.
I have still got a lot of good friends up there like Coutinho, Sakho, Sturridge but I will have to put that friendship to one side when we face them.
After the game we can shake hands, but the football comes first and we will be looking to reach the next round. It is not out of the question that we could win the FA Cup and finish in the top four this season.”
