£21m bid for top-10 striker REJECTED ahead of transfer deadline

Despite limited minutes and even more limited scoring this season, West Bromwich Albion have warded off all comers for striker Saido Berahino, who finished sixth in Premier League scoring last year. As the transfer deadline approaches, West Brom have decided to turn down perhaps the largest bid they’ve received to date for their striker from Newcastle United.

According to the Daily Mail, West Brom have rejected an offer of £21 million from Newcastle for the 22-year-old striker. Per the source, Berahino has 18 months left on his contract but the club is still trying to keep him.

Last year Berahino scored 14 goals – tied with Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud for sixth in the league – but has been far more limited this season. He has made just eight starts in the Premier League and has three league goals in 18 league appearances.

Berahino has been considerably more useful to West Brom in the FA Cup though, scoring three of the club’s five goals in the tournament while playing just 117 minutes.
