Chelsea are believed to be lining up a stunning move to bring former Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen beck to the Premier League from Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.
With news emerging over the weekend that stalwart defender John Terry will be leaving the club at the end of the current season, the Blues are now in the market for a replacement, and have reportedly identified the Belgian international as a possible replacement.
The 30-year-old has struggled for game time at the Nou Camp since leaving London, with a series of injuries hampering his chances, and he could now look to leave the La Liga champions in order to reignite his career.
And the report states that the Blues could be ready to give him that opportunity with an offer to join them over the summer.
Barcelona are also thought to be open to letting him move on, having made virtually no impact during his time there.
