According to the Daily Star, United held out hope that they could convince Guardiola to join them instead of City when he leaves Bayern Munich in the summer. But those hopes have been quashed.
Which now arguably makes Mourinho the most attractive managerial prospect for the Red Devils. The Special One was sacked by Chelsea in December, seven months after delivering them the title.
