Embarrassing Arsenal stats: Southampton goalkeeper had career game (twice!) against Gunners

Should Arsenal fail to win the Premier League by a small margin, the name “Fraser Forster” may forever exist in infamy after the Southampton goalkeeper almost single-handedly kept the Gunners from claiming three points in a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

According to Arsenal stats from Yahoo! Sports, Forster recorded 10 saves against Arsenal on Tuesday. Orbinho noted on Twitter that the mark was the highest of his career – passing his previous career-high of seven, which he also obtained against Arsenal.

Southampton were unable to get a decent shot off against Arsenal in the match at Emirates Stadium and frequently suffered defensive breakdowns that gave Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil clean shots at the goal. However, Forster proved more than capable of defending the goal by himself, recording incredible saves against the star Arsenal duo.

Forster has kept clean sheets in four straight matches after missing 10 months of action due to an injury. Southampton have won three of those four since Forster’s return.
