Manchester City star facing shock axe after Pep Guardiola arrival

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart could be one of the top names to be sold by Pep Guardiola as the Spaniard makes plans to build his own squad.

After it was confirmed on Monday that the Spanish tactician will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season, he is expected to stamp his mark on the squad with several incomings and outgoings likely in the summer.

According to AS, as reported by The Sun, Barcelona and Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo will be one of his primary targets, which in turn spells concern for Hart.

Guardiola has always been keen to deploy a shot-stopper that is technically sound with the ball at his feet as per his style of overall play, with the likes of Manuel Neuer and Victor Valdes being able to play out from the back while also being quick and focused enough to act as a sweeper at times.

While Bravo has a £30.5m release clause, the incoming City boss is likely to be handed significant resources this summer in order to continue to make the club’s vision for success a reality.

However, it is an issue for Hart who has been in great form so far this season and has been a regular for the Citizens for many years now.

With the England international hoping to enjoy a successful Euro 2016 this summer, it may not be the dream start to life under Guardiola that he had imagined if the rumours are true, and he could be forced to consider his options if he is regarded as a number two behind the Spaniard’s preferred option.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the speculation is true, and whether or not Hart can still convince Guardiola that he is the man between the sticks for the foreseeable future.
