Chelsea striker Diego Costa was booked in the first half of his side’s clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night after being involved in a number of petty scuffles.
It wasn’t the only incident of the half involving the Spanish international, as he did also almost break the deadlock as he flashed a shot just wide of Heurelho Gomes’ post.
Nevertheless, he will perhaps have been asked by coach Guus Hiddink to calm things down for the second period, particularly now that he has been cautioned, as he got himself involved in a couple of incidents with Watford defenders.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were unable to find a breakthrough against their London rivals, with Odion Ighalo arguably having the best chance of the game in the opening 45 minutes.
However, the Watford striker mistimed his jump and couldn’t direct his header towards goal from six yards out, much to the relief of Thibaut Courtois and the Chelsea defence.
The visitors are looking to extend an eight-game unbeaten run, but with the game still goalless, it sets up an intriguing second half with Costa potentially set for the headlines for the wrong reasons.
