Man United target Jose Mourinho and Neymar to combat Man City’s Guardiola challenge

Manchester United are believed to be eager to bring both Jose Mourinho and Neymar to the club in order to counteract the news of Pep Guardiola’s impending arrival at cross town rivals Manchester City, according to Italian publication La Gazzeta dello Sport.

The club’s hierarchy are apparently concerned about falling behind their rivals in the league and want action taken to ensure that they remain competitive with their noisy neighbours.

And the report claims that the ideal way to do that would be to replace Louis van Gaal with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and sign Barcelona forward Neymar.

It is said that United have the cash to do the Neymar deal, though an agreement to bring him to Old Trafford is still some way off.

However, Mourinho is believed to be much closer, with some reports even claiming this week that a deal has already been agreed.
