Pep Guardiola is taking over at Manchester City this summer and he will be tasked with turning the Premier League challengers in serious Champions League contenders.
Therefore, the current Bayern Munich boss is going to need to bring in some new blood.
With the expectation being that Pep will almost be given a blank chequebook and allowed to sign whoever he likes, we asked our writers to tell us which player should be top of his City hit-list…

“The glamour buys that are currently giving Manchester City fans wet dreams are likely to be in attacking areas, but that is where they are strong already. Defence and central midfield is where they need improving. Two birds, one stone – David Alaba. The Bayern Munich midfielder-turned left-back is simply outstanding and Guardiola should bring him with.”

“Rather than go the obvious route and pick Lionel Messi. I’m going to go for Thomas Muller. The German scoring machine has been rumoured for years to be interested in a move to the Premier League. His Champions League experience will continue to prove invaluable to Pep with the Citizens, as will his goals!”

“Paul Pogba: With Yaya Toure on the wane, there’s no one better to replace him. Plus, imagine how it would go down over at the ‘noisy neighbours’ United?!”
Ash Attlee (@Attlee)
“I think he WILL bring in another wide forward and a replacement for Yaya Toure, but if he could buy anyone on the planet I think it should be Alaba. Guardiola loves one of his full-backs to bomb forward and contribute more in attack, and City’s current crop are verging on ancient.”

“Thiago – Pep loves the Spaniard. And he should as well, the midfielder’s absolute dynamite. He’ll transform City from a very good Premier League side into a genuine Champions League contender.”
