Brazil legend tips Neymar to become Man City’s first £145m signing under Pep Guardiola

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has backed Manchester City to make Neymar their first signing of the Pep Guardiola era, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old has found himself as one of the most sought after players in the world this season, and has been the subject of some intensive interest from cross-town rivals Manchester United.

But Ronaldinho believes that City could beat them to the punch, providing they can meet his £145million release clause, after revealing that Neymar would love to team up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

“Neymar has already stated his desire to play for Pep,” Ronaldinho said.

“That was a big statement with most people knowing that Pep would be joining Manchester City in the summer.

“We know they can pay wages that no other club in Europe has the power to do.”

Neymar’s father-cum-agent has long talked up a switch to England following recent controversies over tax, and Ronaldinho feels that City will be able to use their considerable financial clout in order to make the move happen.

“There has been a lot of talk about Neymar’s future recently, but I believe rumours of a move to Real Madrid are false,” he added.

“I will advise him to stay at Barcelona for at least a few more years, but if he wants City and they want him, we know they have the power to make it happen.”
