A good number of Liverpool fans carried out their threat to stage a mass walkout during Saturday’s game with strugglers Sunderland, and when they left in the 77th minute, two goals to the good, they likely thought they’d made their point and bagged three points in the process.
However, that wasn’t to be, as Sunderland staged a dramatic late fightback to rescue a point for themselves and frustrate their hosts.
And though their cause is a good one (protesting the £77 ticket prices for the new stand next season) many took to Twitter to blame the walkout on their late collapse.
The Reds lost momentum after the fans left their seats, and the drab atmosphere is believed to have contributed to Adam Johnson and Jermaine Defoe getting the better of Simon Mignolet.

2-0 up…fans walkout on 77….2-2 FT. coincidence?
— Andy Brown (@LawsonAndy) February 6, 2016
Can only presume Simon Mignolet was trying to join the walkout.

Who gives a shit if the walkout did cause the draw anyway? We're not in the running for anything in the league cos of defending like that.

Not assed if we conceded 5 goals after the walkout, dropping a few points is nothing compared to what the protest is about. Enough is enough

I wouldnt relate our miserable capitulation to the walkout, but its the headline which wrote itself. Football without fans is nothing

I'd walkout already in protest of Simon Mignolet, frankly. pic.twitter.com/5FOQwMdBvD

FT: Smattering of boos around Anfield. Two points thrown away. Capitulated after the walkout. #LFC

But I'm gonna say it and I'm gonna lose a lot of followers for this but that walkout contributed to this.
