Arsenal have been struggling for goals recently, having failed to score in their last three games. They look to be back in a vein of goalscoring form though, netting two great goals against Bournemouth in quick succession.
Mesut Özil continued his fine form as he grabbed the first, Olivier Giroud knocking down an Aaron Ramsey lofted ball perfectly into the path of the German. Özil lashed it goalwards from close range, Artur Boruc totally unable to do anything about it.
Bournemouth were clearly shell shocked, and seconds after the restart Arsenal were in again. Ramsey was involved for the second too, playing the ball out wide to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The 22-year-old powered into the box and struck a fine shot towards the far post, which cannoned off the woodwork and nestled in the net; two nil in less than two minutes.
We all know the quality Özil possesses, and the fact that he’s been adding goals to his game means he’s closer to becoming a complete player. The Ox has been heavily criticised for his lack of end product though, with his development at Arsenal somewhat stunted.
Arsenal transfer news
Arsenal fans will be hoping this quickfire salvo will ignite the team so they can get their title challenge back on track, while also giving Oxlade-Chamberlain the shot in the arm he needs to help him reach his clearly massive potential. The Gunners have seen a gap open up between them and Leicester City at the top of the table recently, but a win over the Cherries will go a long way towards reducing the deficit.
