£35m Arsenal scoring machine ready to ink long-term deal

Despite various fitness troubles this year, Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez still has 10 goals this season – his sixth straight year with double-digit goals. The club are still in love with his play and are hoping to lock up Sanchez long-term to create an elite trio with Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil.

According to the Guardian, Sanchez is ready to sign a new contract with the team – much to the relief of everyone in the front office. The Gunners had been rumoured to be ready to make a new deal with assist-leader Mesut Ozil as well as Sanchez back in December.

Since joining Arsenal on a £35 million transfer from Barcelona in 2014, Sanchez has 35 goals in 74 appearances, including a career-high 25 last season en route to FA Cup honours and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Sanchez has also been a superstar for Chile, leading the team to victory in the 2015 Copa America tournament and has 31 goals in 91 caps for his country.
