Euro giants could rival Man City for Barcelona international

According to reports in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain could rival Manchester City for the signing of Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets.

According to the Daily Mail, incoming City boss Pep Guardiola—who will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season—is eager to sign midfielder Busquets from the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

The tabloid note that the Catalan giants are preparing themselves for a £150 million double transfer swoop from City for the services of both Busquets and his teammate Neymar.

The midfield general was promoted to the Barca first team under Guardiola, and became a key cornerstone of the Catalan giants during their successful years under Pep.

Still only 27, Busquets is one of the most decorated players of his generation, having won five La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups, the World Cup and the European Championship.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, City may face competition from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish source have confirmed that PSG are seriously interested in the midfield anchor man, and may look to rival any City approach for the seasoned campaigner.

Busquets could seamlessly replace the ageing Thiago Motta in the French capital, and could be an ideal foil for PSG’s deep-lying playmaker Marco Verratti.
