Liverpool manager eager to land Bayer Leverkusen scoring machine

Between Christian Benteke’s poor form and Daniel Sturridge’s inability to stay healthy, Liverpool will likely be in need of a new striker this summer. Right at the top of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s transfer wishlist is former Man United striker Javier Hernandez (aka Chicharito), who now plays for Bayer Leverkusen.

According to the Metro, Jurgen Klopp is appealing to the Liverpool board to sign Javier Hernandez in the summer transfer window. Liverpool join Arsenal and Bayern Munich in teams interested in the Mexican striker.

Since joining Bundesliga, Chicharito’s production has skyrocketed. He has 22 goals in 26 games for the Bundesliga giants since joining in the summer.

Liverpool acquired Christian Benteke this past season, but despite spending a small fortune on the Belgian striker, they have not gotten anywhere near the expected production out of him.

Against West Ham United on Tuesday, Benteke made seven shots – none of which hit their mark – and missed numerous other opportunities to make scoring chances during the 2-1 loss.
