Coach signs new contract with Euro giants as ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho edges closer to Manchester United

Laurent Blanc has signed a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain, ending speculation linking Jose Mourinho to the job.

While Blanc has enjoyed great success at PSG, he hasn’t always convinced as the giants’ coach, with persistent rumours that he doesn’t possess a big enough personality to handle the various egos and high-profile players in the squad.

In light of such suggestions, Mourinho has regularly been linked with the top job at the Ligue 1 giants, with the Portuguese coach having managed some of the best in the game during his time with the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea.

Following his dismissal from Stamford Bridge at the end of 2015, Mourinho has been regularly linked with some of the top jobs in Europe, not least the position at PSG.

However, the club confirmed that Blanc—who won the World Cup with France in 1998—has signed a new deal until 2018 [as per Reuters].

With one avenue having closed to Mourinho, the former Chelsea boss now appears to be honing in on a switch to Manchester United, with incessant reports tipping the Portuguese coach to replace Louis van Gaal.
