Earlier this year Manchester United took a big risk on a Ligue 1 starlet and got superb production from Anthony Martial. Now that the French striker has made a successful transition to the Premier League, the club have decided to take another risk on a Ligue 1 star: Lille winger Sofiane Boufal.
According to the Metro, the Red Devils’ brass have been encouraged to take a flyer on the Lille ace after the impressive form Anthony Martial has displayed since arriving at Stamford Bridge this past summer. Arsenal are also believed to be interested in the 22-year-old winger from Morocco.
Per the source, Boufal’s price tag would be in the area of £15 million – nowhere close to the amount spent on Martial, but still a pretty penny nonetheless.
This season, Boufal has six goals and two assists in Ligue 1 along with another goal in the Coupe De France. Lille though have the second-fewest goals scored in the French league, netting only 20 times all season.
