Chelsea Predicted lineup vs. Newcastle: Match Preview with Guus Hiddink eyeing first home league win

Posted by

Despite overseeing an increasingly impressive unbeaten run with Chelsea, Guus Hiddink is yet to win a home league win since returning for his second stint at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will be expected to end this unwanted record on Saturday when they take on Newcastle United in the day’s late kick off.

Expect Hiddink’s defence to pick itself, with Thibaut Courtois, Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta all familiar faces. Cahill will likely be deputising for the injured Kurt Zouma for the rest of the campaign, will Terry will surely receive extra special support from the home support as he continues his apparent march to the exit door at the club.

In midfield, we’re tipping John Obi Mikel—a favourite under Hiddink—to start alongside Nemanja Matic or Cesc Fabregas, with Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard occupying the attacking midfield roles.

With an eye on the midweek Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, Hiddink may opt to rest Diego Costa, who broke his nose during the week, with Pedro or Loic Remy options to deputise for the Spaniard.

Newcastle have lost their last five away matches, and Saturday’s clash represents the ideal occasion for Hiddink to secure his first home triumph in the EPL.
