The Lunchtime kickoff from the Championship comes from Loftus Road as QPR take on Fulham with both sides failing to make a significant impression on the playoffs.
Both sides who not long ago graced the Premier League are eager for three points which would give confidence levels a much welcomed boost after what has been a somewhat disappointing season so far.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been brought into the helm at Loftus Road, but has found life a little difficult with wins hard to come by. Rangers are currently in the midst of a five game unbeaten run but have made hard work of their recent matches, with the side only taking maximum points twice in that time.
Regarding team news, Argentinian midfielder Alejandro Faurlin will be assessed after suffering a thigh problem in the 1-0 victory against Ipswich last time out, while ex Burton striker Abdenasser El Khayati could make hi s first starting appearance after impressing from the bench.
Conor Washington and Ale Faurlin will be assessed before the match.
QPR will be hoping for a similar performance to the one which beat Ipswich last time out, Hasselbaink telling the Official QPR website:
“We are concentrating on what is ahead of us, and that’s another very competitive game against a local rival where we once again have to be really focused and really organised, and ready to take the game to them, and do ourselves justice.
We always expect 100% focus, determination and commitment. We always expect that from our players, whatever the game is and whoever it is against.”
Their home form has disappointed, with only five wins coming from their 15 games so far at home, and supporters will be hoping they can improve on that stat as they welcome another struggling side in Fulham this afternoon.
Its been a disappointing season for the Craven Cottage side, who are in the midst of an appalling run which has seen them win only once in their last fifteen matches.
The Cottagers will be looking over their shoulders as the relegation trap door creaks open, with the side only four points off the bottom relegation places as Slavisa Jokanovic looks to pull away from the danger zone.
“The most important thing at the end of the day is the result.“People say, and I believe too, we are going in the right direction.I believe we did important things in the previous days, and now all the people are waiting for a result. Our next chance is tomorrow; 100 per cent we’re going to do everything to win this game.
This is our chance and we’re going to have one hour and a half to give our maximum to win these three points.”
New signings Zakaria Labyad and Michael Madl could make an appearance, while Cauley Woodrow and Marcus Bettinelli will both be missing.
The reverse match at Craven Cottage ended in a resounding 4-0 home win for Fulham, and Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele should once again start for the away side today having formed a formidable partnership, although the side is still looking for their first Championship win of 2016.
A repeat of that scoreline looks highly unlikely considering the recent form of the away side, and a more sensible punt would be on the QPR home win, which looks a rather tasty price of 6/5.
