Video: Wahbi Khazri goal vs. Manchester United: Sunderland take shock lead as De Gea duped

Manchester United headed into their away fixture against Sunderland on Saturday looking to extend their undefeated streak in all competitions.

The Red Devils moved on from their dismal home defeat to Southampton by seeing off Derby County in the FA Cup and Stoke City in the league, before drawing against Chelsea after Diego Costa rescued a late point for the beleaguered champions.

Against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, Louis van Gaal will have been desperate to return to winning ways and increase the pressure on the top four.

However, the Red Devils were undone within the opening three minutes when Wahbi Khazri sent a free kick past David De Gea, with the goalkeeper perhaps duped by Jermain Defoe, who attempted to back-heel flick the ball past the keeper, but appeared not to take a touch.

The Tunisia international only moved to the club from Girondins de Bordeaux during the January transfer window but, as one of a swathe of recent additions, he has the potential to prompt a revival for Sam Allardyce’s troubled north-east heavyweights.

The Corsica-born attacker started on the left against United, and as a versatile, mobile option, he will look to trouble Matteo Darmian and his fellow defenders for the rest of Saturday’s clash.
