After spurning chance after chance against the 10-man Foxes, it was Welbeck who came off the bench to grab what could be a decisive goal in the Premier League title race.

Jamie Vardy had given the visitors the lead in the first half, as he hammered home a penalty after being brought down in the box by Nacho Monreal.

While it seemed as though Claudio Ranieri’s side were set to pull off yet another upset, Danny Simpson was sent off after the break and his dismissal undoubtedly swung the momentum in Arsenal’s favour.

Theo Walcott found the equaliser in the 71st minute to give Arsene Wenger’s side hope, but it seemed as though the two sides were set to share the spoils as the home side couldn’t find a second breakthrough.

However, Welbeck sparked wild scenes at the Emirates Stadium as his glancing header found a way past Kasper Schmeichel and secured all three points for Arsenal who move to within two points of the leaders and set up what looks like a thrilling end to the title race.
