Respected journalist has Manchester clubs on four-team shortlist for world superstar

Paul Pogba is expected to be hot property in the next summer transfer window, and respected journalist Guillem Balague has some good news for Manchester United and Manchester City fans.

The Spanish football expert understands that Barcelona – Pogba’s preferred destination – would be unlikely to be able to afford the Juventus midfielder, who is reportedly valued at upwards of £60m.

Ballague adds that other suitors for the powerful French midfielder – namely the Manchester clubs and Real Madrid – would be willing to meet that steep asking price to land Pogba’s signature.

“Interestingly, Pogba seems to be vying for a move to Barcelona but they don’t have the money that Manchester City, United or Real Madrid are prepared to put on the table,” Ballague told Sky Sports.

“For that reason it’s difficult to say anything definitive, except for the fact those four clubs are interested.”

While Real Madrid still represent stiff competition in the transfer market, that Barcelona are seemingly out of the picture will be encouraging to the Premier League’s hopes of signing the 22-year-old.

Pogba might fancy a return to United, who somehow allowed him to leave for Juve on a free transfer in 2012, or a move to rivals City to take vengeance on the Red Devils for never giving him a chance.

One thing is for sure, if anybody manages to persuade Juve to sell Pogba and the Serie A-winning midfielder  to join them this summer, they will have worked hard, and paid big, for his services.
