Video: Football players read Mean Tweets about their ugly new kit

Posted by

Never accuse MLS outfit Columbus Crew SC of being too afraid to laugh at themselves. Last week’s release of their “For Columbus” alternate kit was met with a combination of skepticism, jokes and outright rage. And without a doubt, they are hard to look at!

However, rather than brush the criticism away, the team decided to laugh with their fans and haters, bringing some of their players in to read some of the harshest Tweets about their new kit.

The Tweets pulled no punches and even the players found themselves in agreement about some of the statements – everything from accusations about being designed by children to being called just plain disgusting.

The design was actually based on the colors for the city of Columbus, Ohio – but the Tweets were pretty quick to rip on that too.

Columbus Crew beat the MLS Community Shield winning New York Red Bulls in the MLS Cup Conference Finals but were defeated by the Portland Timbers in the 2015 MLS Cup Final, losing out on qualification for the CONCACAF Champions League in the process due to their second-place finish in the process.
