PSG striker Edinson Cavani’s father has revealed that he would welcome a move to either Manchester United, Real Madrid or Juventus for his son.
The Uruguayan international is widely expected to leave the French capital this summer, as he has struggled to hold down a permanent spot in the starting lineup.
Although he provided a reminder of his importance with the winning goal against Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday night, it appears as though he will seek a new challenge come the end of the season.
“Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not prepared to play out wide, so they make Edinson play there,” Luis Cavani was quoted as telling Israeli television Sport5, as noted by Football Italia.
“However, he is suffering at Paris Saint-Germain. He’d be happy to get back to playing as a genuine ‘Nine.’
“The future? I would like to see him play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Cavani Sr gets his wish, as there is also the possibility that Ibrahimovic will move on this summer with his contract set to expire.
In turn, if the Swede leaves the French champions, it could open up a space for Cavani to return to his preferred position and lead the PSG attack next season, depending on the club’s transfer activity.
Having proven his prolific goalscoring ability at both Napoli and PSG in recent years, the Uruguayan striker will be desperate to settle with regular first-team football and so it could prove to be an interesting summer.
