Gonzalo Higuain transfer news: Agent of Napoli striker leaves door open for exit

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain will not be leaving the club any time soon, but his agent has conceded that things could change moving forward.

The Argentine international has been in sensational form so far this season, scoring 24 goals in 25 Serie A appearances to lead the club to second place and just a point adrift of leaders Juventus.

In fact, the Partenopei had led the way for a number of weeks but their 1-0 loss to the Bianconeri last weekend saw the two Scudetto contenders swap places.

Nevertheless, while Higuain will hope to continue to play a crucial role in their pursuit of league success this season, his agent and brother Nicolas, has ruled out talk of a transfer for now but would have left Napoli fans nervous with his comments.

“Champions League with Napoli?” he considered on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, as reported by Football Italia. “Yes, for the moment. We have a contract and there’s no chance of playing elsewhere, but we can’t think about the Champions League now, but just about playing every game.

“There are still many points to play for. When Gonzalo plays it’s normal that there’s a high chance of scoring goals, he’s having a great season.

“It’s down to him, because he’s concentrating to the maximum, but also down to the team. There are so many games to go, we have to concentrate on ourselves. The Champions League is an important competition, but first we have to finish as champions or second in the League.”

Higuain has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all reportedly interesting in acquiring his services.

Depending on what Napoli achieve this season, the trio of English giants could well be alerted about his availability moving forward as he would potentially be interested in a new challenge if he fails to win silverware in Naples.
