Premier League rivals Bournemouth and Everton will meet in the fifth round of the FA cup with both sides hoping for a welcome distraction.
Both sides are in the bottom half of the Premier League, with the Toffee’s four places ahead of their weekend hosts in 11th.
Roberto Martinez’ men have won three and lost two of their last five games, a 1-0 defeat to WBA their latest missed chance to climb into the top half of the table.
Bournemouth meanwhile have lost to both Arsenal and Stoke in their last two games although prior to that they had won two and drawn one, a 2-1 success away to Portsmouth in the cup sandwiched in between a draw with Sunderland and a win over Crystal Palace.
Both these teams played out a thrilling 3-3 when they met in November with the Cherries coming from 2-0 and 3-2 down to grab a 98th minute share of the spoils.
Despite knowing his side let two leads slip on their last trip to Deans Court, Everton boss Roberto Martinez will not dwell on the fixtures insisting the FA cup represents a totally different game.
“We didn’t take advantage of our two-goal lead,” Martinez said. “From that point of view, we all recognise Bournemouth are an attacking side, they’ll always score goals.
“We learned what happened there but the FA Cup is its own tournament. Even though we’re both Premier League sides, I think it will be a completely different scenario and it’s important we adapt to those 90 minutes quickly.”
John Stones is set to be fit to play however Muhamed Besic (hamstring) is a doubt while new signing Oumar Niasse is out after undergoing minor wrist surgery.
Bournemouth are likely to make changes with Eunan O’Kane, Sylvain Distin, Lewis Grabban and Juan Iturbe in line to start.
