Man United ready to use Juan Mata as bargaining tool for Atletico Madrid goal ace

Manchester United are set to be ready to use forward Juan Mata as leverage to lower the cost of a deal for Atletico Madrid playmaker Antoine Griezmann, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils have been tracking the France international for some time, and are now hoping to be able to bring him to Old Trafford over the summer.

He currently has a release clause of £60million installed in his contract, but Premier League rivals Chelsea are also said to be interested in making a move for him.

But United are willing to use Mata to bring Griezmann’s transfer fee down. With rumours of Jose Mourinho’s arrival gathering pace, Mata is believed to be concerned for his future with the Red Devils.

Griezmann has been prolific in front of goal again this season, bagging himself 19 goals so far, whereas Mata has just four strikes to his name in what has been a rather disappointing campaign.
