Gareth Bale agent calls transfer rumours “completely rubbish story”

On the heels of a recent report that Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale will be sold by the club this summer, the former Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur star’s agent has come out to douse water on the idea.

According to Sky Sports, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett said the recent report from AS that stated the club were considering selling the Welsh megastar was “a completely rubbish story.” Barnett also insulted the journalist for publishing the ill-advised story.

“It’s a completely rubbish story made by an irresponsible and totally ill-informed journalist,” Barnett said.

Bale has been ravaged by injuries since joining the La Liga giants in 2013 for a world-record transfer fee of £85 million. He has played only 63% of the club’s minutes since moving to Spain and his current injury troubles have limited him to just 44% of minutes this season.

The 26-year-old forward has 13 goals in 15 La Liga appearances along with nine assists in all competitions. However, in this three years at Real Madrid, Bale has yet to match his career high of 21 goals he recorded in his last season at White Hart Lane.
