Tottenham’s worst fears realised as star striker Harry Kane suffers injury

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane suffered a broken nose in Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, according to The Telegraph.

But The Telegraph adds that the England international will play on while wearing a protective mask as Spurs pursue the Premier League title.

Kane was caught by an elbow in Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Palace, but finished the game before realising that he had broken his nose, The Telegraph reports.

The Telegraph understands that Mauricio Pochettino may not risk Kane for Thursday’s Europa League round of 32 second leg with Fiorentina.

Level at 1-1 from last week’s fixture, Tottenham’s progress is far from certain but they also have a big week of league games to prepare for.

Spurs host Swansea City and visit West Ham United in the space of three days before a massive North London derby with title rivals Arsenal.

The Lilywhites are desperate to have Kane available for this run of games and so have already had a mask cast for him, according to The Telegraph.

An injury to Kane has the potential to derail Tottenham’s season. He has started all 26 of their league games and is their top scorer with 16 goals.

Pochettino has no other recognised striker to choose from after Spurs failed to secure their desired targets either last summer or in January.

Thankfully, it appears as though the 22-year-old is ready to play through the pain barrier, so there is no need for Tottenham to hit the panic button yet.
