Arsenal boss likely to DROP struggling striker for must-win match vs Swansea

Though Arsenal played poorly across the board in their recent matches against Barcelona and Manchester United, Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez appears to be a prime target of Arsene Wenger’s disappointment and could find himself on the bench in a key stretch of matches this week.

According to the Metro, Wenger is considering dropping Sanchez from the lineup when Arsenal return to Emirates Stadium to take on 16th-place Swansea City.

Despite playing a full 90 minutes against a depleted Man United team, Sanchez was wildly ineffective against at Old Trafford as the Gunners lost 3-2. He was also quiet in Arsenal’s 2-0 home loss to Barcelona in the Champions League.

Sanchez has not scored a Premier League goal since October and has only one goal in all competitions in the last two months. Last year Sanchez finished the season with 16 BPL goals and 25 total goals – this year he only has six and 10 respectively.

There are not a ton of viable replacement options for Sanchez though. Theo Walcott for an example has scored just two goals in all competitions since September.
