Triple injury boost for Man United has star striker, defender pair in vs Watford

The Red Devils have gotten healthy at key areas very quickly. After overcoming challenges in the Europa League and from Arsenal with a damaged roster, Manchester United will have three key players back in the lineup as they try to make a late rally for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

In an interview on Tuesday [per the Metro], Louis van Gaal revealed that star striker Anthony Martial should be ready to return to the team’s lineup against Watford on Wednesday. Starting defender Matteo Darmian will be in the match, and Chris Smalling has a better chance of coming back as well, the Dutch manager said.

‘Players are coming back. It is positive,’ Van Gaal said. ‘I think Martial can play, Darmian can play and maybe Smalling – we’ll wait and see for tomorrow.’

Martial is tied for the team lead with seven Premier League goals and has been one of the lone bright spots on the team this season. However, he became a forgotten man this past weekend as 18-year-old forward Marcus Rashford scored four goals in his first two matches.

If Martial is healthy it will be fascinating to see how LvG chooses between Martial and Rashford.
