Kenedy goal video v Norwich: Guus Hiddink’s inspired left-back selection works within 40 seconds

Talk about an inspired bit of management!

Guus Hiddink selected Brazilian attacking midfielder Kenedy at left-back for Chelsea’s visit to Norwich City tonight, and had barely taken his seat in time to see his handy work pay dividends.

The 20-year-old scored the fastest Premier League goal of the season after just 40 seconds at Carrow Road, jinking through a couple of defenders and firing powerfully into the bottom corner.

It is Kenedy’s first Premier League goal since he joined Chelsea last summer. He had previously scored once in his 12 appearances – away to Walsall in a 4-1 Capital One Cup win in September.

Almost all of those outings have been in his natural forward position – but Hiddink chose to use the youngster as an emergency left-back this evening due to his defensive injury problems.

Baba Rahman, a recognised left-back, had a torrid time of things against Southampton at the weekend and has been dropped to the bench. This goal from Kenedy might not make him feel any better!
