Former Catania sporting director Pietro Lo Monaco claims to know that Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino is ‘crazy about Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne’.
The Premier League outfit are currently in the midst of a title race that sees them sit just three points behind league leaders Leicester City with 10 games remaining in the season.
With the north London derby undoubtedly top of their agenda this weekend, it appears as though they have one eye on the summer transfer market, according to Lo Monaco.
“Insigne is the complete package for a wide player,” he told TV Luna, as noted by Football Italia.
“I spoke to Tottenham and I know for certain that Pochettino is crazy about Insigne.”
The Italian international has been an important part of his side’s Scudetto push this season, although there have been recent signs that the Partenopei are beginning to struggle to last the pace.
Nevertheless, a return of 10 goals and 11 assists already this year is impressive for the 24-year-old who will be hoping to book a spot in Antonio Conte’s Italy squad for Euro 2016 this summer and continue to impress potential suitors.
Whether or not he secures a move to the Premier League next season remains to be seen, but the Naples native will undoubtedly be desperate to help his current employers win the Serie A title this year before a possible exit.
