Chelsea take on PSG in the second leg of their Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge with Guus Hiddink’s side 2-1 down on aggregate but with John Obi Mikel firing in an away goal in Paris there’s definitely everything to play for tonight.
Guus Hiddink has seen his side see an upturn in fortunes since the Dutchman arrived in London once more and there are many who will be backing Chelsea to progress to the next round tonight.
Their loss to PSG in Paris was in fact their only loss so far since the arrival of Hiddink, with the side unbeaten in the Premier League since December.
The news coming out of the Chelsea camp is that John Terry will miss the game due to a hamstring injury sustained in February, but there is better news up front with Diego Costa passed fit after missing Saturday’s draw with Stoke. Nemanja Matic should return to the starting XI after seeing out his suspension, while Cesc Fabregas could also make a return to the side.
PSG manager Laurent Blanc has a few injury worries of his own, with Marco Verratti facing a late fitness test on his groin, while Blaise Matuidi is expected to start despite an injury worry. Edinson Cavani will likely come on from the bench, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic will once again be the focal point of PSG’s attacking formation.
The match may have come at the right time for Chelsea, as PSG have looked surprisingly unconvincing in Ligue 1 the last few weeks, with only one victory in their last four outings, and an uninspiring 0-0 draw at home to Montpellier last time out.
The Paris outfit still lead the division by a mammoth 23 point from second placed Monaco, but their performances have dropped remarkably, which will be a worry for Blanc as they head for Stamford Bridge tonight.
Despite all this however, the French outfit are still favourites coming into the game and their price of 6/4 is sure to attract plenty of attention from punters, considering the wealth of talent in the squad.
The injury worries to their two midfield power houses Verratti & Matuidi will be a concern however, with both not operating at 100%, and shrewd punters may consider backing the Chelsea home win tonight.
Lets remember Guus Hiddink is unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in his two spells at the club so far, and the Blues are clearly heading in the right direction under the leadership of the Dutchman.
The away goal has proved decisive in the previous two meetings between these sides, and the 15/8 on the Chelsea home win therefore looks a very juicy price all things considered.
It should prove to be an extremely tense affair at the Bridge and its a game which simply shouldn’t be missed.
We’re expecting a Blue night in London tonight with Chelsea coming out on top by the odd goal, possibly 2-1.
Whatever the result, don’t miss a kick.
