Somehow it seems that most people knew that Man City superstar Vincent Kompany would get injured sooner or later, though with a trip to the Champions League quarter-finals on the line against Dynamo Kyiv they surely hoped it would happen before the five minute mark!
Unfortunately, that was exactly what happened to the Belgian defensive stalwart less than a handful of minutes into the match at the Etihad on Tuesday afternoon. While trying to kick the ball out of play, Kompany winced in pain from an apparent leg injury and slowed down before calling to the sidelines and falling on his backside to receive treatment. He was removed moments later and replaced by Eliaquim Mangala.
If the injury was to his oft-injured calf, it could be a major problem considering his history with that piece of him:
If that is Vincent Kompany’s calf again, it will be the 14th time since he joined Man City in 2008

Bad luck for Kompany and worse luck for the Citizens, who are just minutes away from securing their first-ever trip to the Champions League quarter-finals. Fans were just as sorry for Kompany as they were for the star-crossed Man City though.
Honestly feel for Vincent kompany. The look on his face then told you everything

Unfortunately, Kompany would be joined in the lockers shortly after by Nicolas Otamendi, who was also injured in the first 24 minutes and was forced off to be replaced by Martin Demichelis.
