Why Manchester United transfer target is perfect for the Premier League

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Roma star Alessandro Florenzi, but will face competition from Chelsea and Barcelona.

According to Transfermarketweb, as noted by Football Italia, the Italian has attracted the interest of United with his impressive performances in recent seasons.

Florenzi’s versatility has seen him play as a right-back, right wing-back, midfielder and on the right side of an attacking trident, although he has featured prominently in the defensive line this year.

Having also taken up the captain’s armband and emerged as the next cult hero for supporters behind Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi given his Roman roots, he is rapidly becoming an integral part of the Giallorossi’s future.

Nevertheless, the capital club will have to consider their options this summer, with United, Chelsea and Barcelona all expected to test their resolve in the coming months.

Florenzi’s current contract runs until June 2019, and the 25-year-old will likely prefer to remain with his boyhood club as he continues to grow in importance and stature.

However, it is difficult to ignore the fact that he has all the characteristics to succeed in the Premier League, particularly at a big club like United or Chelsea.

The Italian international’s work ethic, work rate, desire, determination and energy all appear well suited to the English game, as he is never afraid to commit himself to a tackle while using his tactical knowledge to ensure that his positioning and defensive awareness continue to improve.

Much like Matteo Darmian who impressed before injuries disrupted his first season at Old Trafford, Florenzi could have a similarly solid effect on the side and brings plenty of qualities with him.

Whether or not he leaves Rome this summer remains to be seen, but he is certainly destined to become regarded as one of the top right backs in world football provided that he continues his current path of progression and development.
