Papers identify three strikers as possible Diego Costa replacements at Chelsea

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are monitoring three strikers as potential replacements for Diego Costa should the Spain striker leave the club this summer.

Costa shone during his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, but grossly underperformed under previous coach Jose Mourinho until his departure in December. While his form has picked up slightly under interim manager Guus Hiddink, the international hitman’s return remains somewhat underwhelming for a player rated so highly.

Indeed, while the 27-year-old has had his moments the season, a return of 11 goals in 24 league games is underwhelming.

As such, the Telegraph report that the Blues are considering a trio of options as potential upgrades on Costa.

Juventus striker Simone Zaza has also been linked to Arsenal, and many not be the kind of name that sets the world alight, although Pensioners fans may be much more encouraged by the prospect of either Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain or Paris Saint-Germain hitman Edinson Cavani arriving at Stamford Bridge in the summer.
