ASSIST WIZARD?! Stats show Jamie Vardy may be the best scoring threat in England

Jamie Vardy‘s incredible goal-scoring rate this season is well-documented. However his ability to create assists is another skill that does not get nearly enough attention. Case in point: By virtue of his assist to Riyad Mahrez in Leicester City‘s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, Vardy is now the most prolific assist maker in English football.

Per stats from Squawka Football, Vardy has recorded 14 assists since making his debut in the Premier League with the Foxes last season – more than any other English player in that period.

Vardy joined Leicester City for just £1 million back in 2012 and was a vital player in their promotion from the Championship division in the 2013-14 season. Last year he regressed and scored just five teams in the Premier League, but his eight assists helped Leicester City escape the relegation zone in the final half of the season.

This year he is tied for the Premier League goal lead with 19 (tied with Harry Kane) and set the Premier League record for consecutive games with a goal.
