PSG international fined by club after Ibrahimovic altercation

Paris St Germain‘s Gregory van der Wiel has been fined by the club following his behaviour at half time during the club’s 9-0 victory over Troyes on Sunday.

As reported by Goal, the defender argued with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and left the stadium at half time—at which point he was substituted. The right-back therefore missed the club’s championship party and turned up to the club’s champions’ gala in Paris separately from his teammates.

As confirmed by the club’s sporting director Olivier Letang on Friday in Nyon, where he was attending the draw for the Champions League quarter-finals, the defender has been fined €160,000 for his behaviour, as per Goal [as above].

PSG were confirmed as French champions after devastating Troyes 9-0—the biggest away win in the history of Ligue 1—a game in which Zlatan scored four, including an astonishing nine-minute hat-trick in the second half.

The club were handed a tough draw for the last eight of the UCL having advanced past Chelsea in the round of 16.
