Liverpool eyeing stalwart German defender as possible Martin Skrtel heir

1899 Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule has been a mainstay for the Bundesliga outfit since he was just a teenager. At the tender age of 20 and with a massive 6’5″ frame, Sule has the potential to develop into a star – and he may be exactly the kind of player Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants to bring to his side next season.

According to the Metro, Liverpool have reached out to Sule and are asking about his availability as a summer transfer target. Sule plays primarily as a centre-back and could serve as a replacement for the veteran Martin Skrtel, who has struggled mightily with injuries and poor form this season.

After the way the defense played in the second half against Southampton this past week, the Reds could probably use Sule – or just about anyone to replace the sorry bunch of performers from that 3-2 nightmare.

Since 2013, Sule has played 53 matches for Hoffenhaim and has been capped 8 times for the Germany Under-21 team
