Juventus eyeing Liverpool flop for summer transfer, but Reds keen for at least £25m

Juventus have made Liverpool striker Christian Benteke one of their summer transfer targets, according to the Mirror.

The reigning Italian champions are understood to have enquired about a move for the 25-year-old in January, but were rebuffed by Liverpool.

However, the report suggests there’s been a change of stance at Anfield, where Jurgen Klopp would now be willing to cash in on the player if a club meets his valuation—understood to be at least £25 million, according to the Mirror [as above].

A sale at such a price would represent a considerable loss for the Merseyside heavyweights, who signed the Belgian international for £32.5 million last summer, during the tenure of previous coach Brendan Rodgers [fee via BBC Sport].

However, despite demonstrating his various attributes at previous club Aston Villa—helping the Birmingham club steer clear of relegation—Benteke has struggled to impress at Liverpool, and has become something of a peripheral figure under Klopp.

The powerhouse has scored just seven league goals in 25 Premier League outings so far this season, of which only 12 have come from the start.
