Man City expected to offload struggling defender for huge loss

Eliaquim Mangala may not be the worst defender on Manchester City (though that becomes more debatable by the week) but he is certainly one of its most costly. Unfortunately for the French centre-back, the club will need plenty of cash to land the players on Pep Guardiola‘s wish list and his price tag is getting too high.

According to Transfer Tavern, Man City are planning to move their £42 million flop in the summer after just two years at the Etihad.

Mangala has made just 19 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens this season. Worse, the club have conceded a goal in all but one game where Mangala was featured in since mid-September – a 0-0 draw against Leicester City at the end of 2015.

The 25-year-old French back won back-to-back Primeira Liga and Supertaca titles with FC Porto prior to his big move to Man City in 2014. He earned Europa League Squad of the Season honors with the Portugal club for the 2013-14 season.
