Everton eyeing Manchester United transfer target ahead of possible summer move

According to reports, Everton are considering Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen as a potential replacement for Tim Howard.

The USA international keeper—whose form has waned this season—has confirmed that he will has agreed a deal to sign for Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids.

While Joel Robles has taken a more prominent role in the team this season, it remains to be seen whether the former Wigan Athletic man has enough quality to be a successful long-term replacement for former Manchester United man Howard.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Cillessen has emerged as a potential candidate to step in between the sticks at the end of the campaign.

The Netherlands stopper was heavily linked with a move to United during the summer, and was understood to be considered as a potential replacement for David De Gea, whose move to Real Madrid ultimately collapsed on deadline day.

The Echo note that club scouts have watched the keeper in action in the Eredivisie, where Cillessen kept his 14th clean sheet of the season last weekend as Ajax defeated PSV Eindhoven 2-0.
